Pretzel Candy

Guess what?! I don't make just cupcakes!
Yes... really :)

After the holidays, my pantry was full of extra leftover bits and pieces, so I gathered up a few and combined them. To a very delicious result, I might add!

Somehow I ended up with three bags of pretzels. I think I was a little over ambitious in the desire to make chocolate covered pretzels during Christmas... which never happened. And I also ended up with three partial bags of chocolate chips, all different kinds. There was a half full bag of caramels shoved somewhere in the bag of my pantry shelf as well. I thought, this stuff needs to get used up.

Here's what I came up with.

Ingredients:
Approximately 1-1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
1 cup peanut butter
1/2 of the 16 oz bag of pretzels
handful of caramels

How to make Pretzel Candy:

{I used the good ole "pretzel in the gallon sized zip lock bag" trick to smash up the pretzels just enough. Not too much, but enough}

{After you mix the chocolate/ PB mixture with the pretzels, place the pan in the refrigerator for about an hour until the pretzels are hardened}

{I melted caramel in the microwave with a teeny bit of water}

{After drizzling with caramel, I stuck it all back in the fridge for a little bit}

Store in the fridge or freezer. This stuff is sticky! But it doesn't matter how sticky it is because Pretzel Candy won't last long :)

My 6-year-old son said if we had any leftovers, they would be rotten by tomorrow, so he should just eat the last piece tonight. Okay, I believe him!

Candy Cane Cupcakes

Today my son's after school piano club had a Christmas party. He asked me to bring in cupcakes, so of course, I obliged :) I had a new holiday-ish recipe I'd wanted to try out, so really he didn't have to ask me twice!

When I brought the cupcakes in, the teacher said, "Oh that's nice! You didn't have to go buy something so extravagant!" I said I didn't, I made them :)

Angry Birds

I received a birthday cake order for a boy who loves Angry Birds. I will admit, I've never played the game. I know it is shocking to most people :) I'm not a video game person, and if I do play any sort of video games, it's word games, or puzzle games.

Anyway, I had to do a little research to find out more about Angry Birds. The customer said they did not care which bird I did , their son loved all of the characters. After researching , I found that the red one seems to be the main character. At least, that's the one bird that most of the cakes I found were made of.

Here's my Angry Birds cake. It's a chocolate mud cake with a creamy chocolate frosting, and marshmallow fondant.Last week was a busy week. 80 cupcakes went out, and this cake. Next up, I have an order for a pumpkin cheesecake. Because, oh yes, I do more than cupcakes and cakes :)

Strawberry and Chocolate Mix-Up Cupcakes

Yesterday I placed an order for two people who couldn't make up their minds :)
The cupcakes were for a little boy's school birthday treat, and the dad is in love with my strawberry buttercream, but the birthday boy wanted chocolate. So I did both!

Two more orders to make and deliver tomorrow morning, so I'm headed back to the kitchen!

Hello Kitty Birthday Cupcakes

I am in the final push toward my degree, and the next month is going to be hard between preparing cupcake orders that pop up, work, family, and the 4 huge projects I have for school.

No fear, though, I'll get it all done :) I always do!
An order popped up for a friend of mine. Her daughter, the birthday girl, is a former gymnastics student of mine. Also, this family was my first ever paid order and they've gotten me some referrals. :)

The request: Hello Kitty
Cupcakes: Strawberry
Colors: Red and Pink

The rest was up to me! I haven't worked with modeling chocolate yet, so thought this was a good time to try. White modeling chocolate made the Hello Kitty heads.

Here we have: Strawberry cupcake with Marshmallow Buttercream frosting and White Chocolate Hello Kitty.

I had a happy little birthday girl when I dropped them off today!

Halloween Cupcakes

What better treat at a Halloween party than cupcakes?! I couldn't have asked for these to turn out any better. Three flavors, three fun Halloween-y styles. These cupcakes were made for my son's middle school Halloween party at the YMCA. He goes to an after school club that is run by the local Y, and they did their Halloween party tonight. So, of course, I spent the day making cupcakes for the occasion :)

Carthage Cupcakes

My daughter's swim team was having their end of the season party, so I decided to supply some cupcakes. So did three quarters of the other parents :) But none looked as personalized as mine!
